ME+EM is a modern luxury women’s clothing brand for busy women globally. Monthly capsules of ready-to-wear accessories and footwear are all designed in London and sold direct-to-consumer in-store and at meandem.com.

Their purpose is to build the fashion confidence of our customers and that purpose is at the heart of everything we do. They believe that women shouldn’t have to choose between quality and cost. Between contemporary trends and clothes they can function and look great in, and with intelligent design details, they have done the hard work to ensure their customer looks and feel their best when wearing our designs.

What challenges were ME+EM facing which led you to look for a new hosting provider?

When I joined ME+EM as CTO, we were still hosting on-premise and we were seeing all of the common issues associated with this. Hosting-related issues were commonplace.

Our deployment process was sub-optimal. Peak trading was plagued with nervousness around whether or not the infrastructure would hold up. 

It was immediately obvious to me that we needed to move our Magento platform to the cloud, and having worked with Akoova previously, they were the obvious choice.

What would have been the risks for ME+EM if you hadn’t made the change from your previous hosting provider? Particularly if you hadn’t chosen Akoova?

Beyond the obvious risk to revenue, there’s also the reputational risk. Customers expect your website to be up and running and functional 24/7.

If technology is getting in the way of providing that exceptional customer experience, you have a very big problem.

How did Akoova’s solution assist with those challenges?

Migrating to Akoova has eliminated many of the historic challenges we faced. We see vanishingly few hosting-related issues. Deployments run extremely smoothly and peak trading is uneventful.

Our first sale period on Akoova was extremely successful. We saw several record-breaking days. We would not have achieved this on our previous infrastructure. 

What do you like most about working with Akoova?

They always go above and beyond. 

It’s impossible to overstate the value that Akoova have brought in stabilising our platform, even when the issue lies in the codebase and not with the infrastructure. They act as an extension of our team, who are invested in the success of our business.

What would you say to someone considering working with Akoova?
